Steven Douglas Corp. was founded in 1998 by Stephen D. Belliveau, the company’s President and Chief Engineer. Steve started interning in factory automation while he was an undergrad at The University of Akron where he graduated with a BSME. His last internship, at the World’s largest Industrial Conglomerate, turned into a professional career after graduation. Steve was an up-and-comer and went on to earn his Master of Mechanical Engineering degree from Case Western Reserve University. But even while he enjoyed corporate success as a factory automation engineer and project manager, his creative and enterprising spirit led him to start SDC.
Being founded and run by a Chief Engineer, ensures our focus remains on solving difficult technical problems which is the driving force at SDC. We are an engineering company that then builds everything we design.
SDC has accomplished modest but steady growth since its’ founding and now employs over 25 veteran automation professionals. The staff is more or less split between front-office engineering (mechanical, electrical and controls) and the manufacturing plant (parts manufacturing, electrical and machine building). Even in the current economic slow-down, SDC continues to grow to meet demand.
In early 2007, SDC purchased and moved into its current facility at 10420 Kinsman Road in Newbury, Ohio. This location boasts a modern front engineering office and a sizable 25,000-square-foot hi-bay shop. With easy access and plenty of space, it is a perfect place to design and build custom and special factory automation machines.
